Story Synopsis: From a great whirlwind appears the Hulk, confused and seemingly less intelligent than before. He stumbles out of the cave and is spotted by an army stakeout. While Major Talbot is welcoming the new scientist who is to take Banner's place- Dr. Zaxon- he is alerted to the presence of the Hulk. He takes off immediately to trap the green giant. The Hulk bounds across the desert and is harassed by missiles and artillery fire, and when he lands, he comes down into a deep twenty-foot pit. A knockout gas pours down into the pit, and he is subdued.

At the base, Rick Jones breaks the news to Betty Brant that her love Bruce Banner was also the Hulk. She struggles to believe it, but it comes as a great shock. Major Talbot bursts in and tells them that he's trapped the Hulk, who is still alive, and Rick worries that he's betrayed his friend's secret. As the military men go to check on their captive, he struggles to leap out of the hole, but is kept inside by anti-matter laser beams which create a containment force shield. Zaxon is eager to begin doing research on the Hulk. He determines that the Hulk is full of organic energy, which can be exploited with the right know-how. Betty Brant is brought to view the Hulk, and she still cannot bring herself to believe it is really Bruce Banner. For a moment, the Hulk seems to respond to her, but then he breaks down in a raging fit.

Dr. Zaxon requests full authority to research the Hulk, and Talbot says he'll ask Gen. Ross at once. Later, Dr. Zaxon enacts his real plan- he has every intention of stealing the Hulk's power through his organic energy equipment and using it for his own purposes to dominate the world! He builds his Organic Energy Attractor and heads out to fire it upon the Hulk, to suck him dry of all his power. He goes to the trench the Hulk is imprisoned in and turns off the anti-matter force beam, and then calls him out to "meet his master!" The Hulk stirs from below, and sticks his head up over the pit, and then....
